Mr. Aref Hakki (Chairman):
Mr. Hakki received an engineering degree from Cambridge University and MBA from Seattle University. Apart from three and half years-spent working as a development engineer with the Boeing Co. in Seattle in the late 1960s, he spent his entire career with the electrical engineering group ABB (Asea Brown Boveri). Starting in Switzerland as an engineer in the transformer division in 1959, he moved to different managerial positions in Switzerland and United States. In 1977 he was transferred to Egypt as ABB Country Manager and head of the technical office in Cairo. From an initial nucleus of fewer than 20 people, the ABB group has grown over years into a group of 10 operating companies with five manufacturing plants and employing close to 5000 employees. Mr. Hakki was chief executive of the group until 1998 when he became chairman of the board of the group holding company. He retired from the group in 1999.
